There is a playground, boat launch, docks and separate boat trailer parking available. The lower Takhini River begins at Kusawa Lake, and many kayakers and canoeists launch their river journey at the campground. The Tlingit name Kùsawu.â* means “narrow lake” while the lake’s Southern Tutchone name Nekhų Män, “rafting across lake,” refers to its narrowest point where people could easily cross. Takhini River Campground is only 6 kms to the north of Kusawa Lake Campground. Please note: Kusawa Lake Road is gravel and can often be very bumpy and dusty.
